HF Antenna's for small blocks

Post by VK2ND » Mon Jul 10, 2017 6:56 pm

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good HF wire antenna for the average size block?

Full size G5RV is 102 feet long.....bit to long.....may look at g5RV junior which is 52 feet long but don't know about performance.

Ian after you spoke about the cobweb antenna I have been looking on the net.
I dont know if you have seen the two types one with a group of single wires and another with twin speaker wire.
The antenna looks good and I am thinking of making one.

G'day Ian, you might find this one interesting....http://www.kn9b.us/spiral-dipole
It seems to make some interesting claims, but I don't know.
cheers,

I have a very small suburban back yard.

For the last 3 years I have been using the G7FEK antenna.

http://www.g7fek.co.uk/software/G7FEK%20antenna.pdf
It performs very well on 80m for such a small size.

It is touted as a multiband antenna, but I use it mainly on 80m.

I do use it on other bands too, but the performance is not great, but it allows me to have a signal on all bands.

I could only raise the ladder line up to 7m, so I just extended the horizontal portion of the antenna by 0.4m

Give it a go....
